Hola
So Greg is off to Mocambique to Jazz fans of the Zombies! Have a great one. We will be jamming with the awesome Steve Newman on June 5th @ Cube Cafe in Menlyn. Get there early to avoid disappointment. Great venue and a great crew operating this venue. Pretoria needs these venues to keep it's citizens sane.
We have a new collaboration that is working well and taking off. That would be Greg, Steve and myself. We're off to Seychelles in June and Grahamstown Festival in July. We have gigs with Vivid Afrika and the new trio plus Prof. Marc Duby. Cannot wait for this one. Loads of other interesting and exciting gigs happening in Grahamstown, so if you are unsure about your attendance, JUST DO IT!!!!! (sorry Nike, I O U).
And so back to the topic of the trio... we like so much that we are planning an album. Look out for that at the Grahamstown Festival where we hope to release it - universe permitting.
Don't forget, we are both up and running on Facebook and there is a Strings & Skins group as well as a Vivid Afrika group there for you to join if you are not already on there.
Passages in Time is going... so get your copy soon - or it just might be too late.
Mampoer is strong...
Prayer is stronger...
Chemicals take you nowhere.
Peace to Africa. Ashish Strings 'n Skins

Strings 'n Skins play rhythmical interpretations of North African and South African improvisational styles. Their Afro-Asian hybrid beats are played on traditional instruments, such as the Indian percussive drums (Tabla & Dhol), Egyptian (Darbukah) and African (Djembe), played by Ashish, and the North African fretless lute (Oud), Bouzouki and nylon string Flamenco guitar, played by Greg. Their CD Strings 'n Skins, was voted Best CD of the year by Pretoria News readers. They have played extensively around South Africa from Swartruggens to Rustlers Valley, Splashy Fenn and Oppikoppi, where audiences have been thrilled by their driving rhythms and catchy melodies. They are a duo of international standard and their music ferverently taken to in Zanzibar, Namibia and Seychelles. A truly unique band originating from South Africa with intricately woven masterpieces which engulf your spirit each time they are heard.
